Drawing Backlog

Summer is a busy time. I am preparing for two solo shows and am showing in one group show (see previous post). I am working in my studio 2 or 3 days per week and working part time to finance my artistic independance. I also hike, kayak and camp in the summer. This summer I took on re-painting 3 rooms in my apartment. Photographing and posting my work has taken a bit of a back seat but the following drawings bring me up to date with posting except for last weeks drawings.

Drawings from the past couple of weeks

You can see some of my drawings live and up close at the new Rhizome Cafe, 317 Broadway, Vancouver. The cafe is opening this coming week. There will be a celebration of the cafe's opening on Saturday, July 22 when all the artists in the show, including myself, will be in attendance.

3 days in the studio = 5 drawings

The following 5 drawings were done this past couple of weeks. I spend 2 to 3 days in the studio each week depending on my part-time day job schedule. I am happy with the collection of drawings that I have, and continue to, put together. They will be shown at The Firehall Arts Centre here in Vancouver, BC in the fall. Dates to be posted later.

Back to posting

I have been away for 3 weeks, renovating my apartment and taking a vacation. I got back in the studio on Thursday after working at my day job for the first three days this week. The drawings are coming fast and furious already. I began working on drafting mylar just before the break and incorporating some colour into the drawings as well. I am continuing to work in my sketch book and post those drawings as well. The drawings have lead to a new way of working in paintings and I am working on a series of paintings which I will photograph when the series is finished. Then I will look for a gallery in which to exhibit them.

These first three drawings were made before the break but I did not have time to post them.

I will post the May drawings soon.
